Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman has done it all – working with acclaimed auteurs, starring in big prestige projects, and making gritty indies. And for those of a certain age, they may have forgotten she’s done the comic book movie thing too. She took the role of Dr. Chase Meridian in Joel Schumacher‘s critically savaged “Batman Forever,” and perhaps not surprisingly, has stayed away from comic book oriented pictures ever since. But that’s about to change.
The Wrap reports that Kidman is in talks to join Gal Gadot and Chris Pine in “Wonder Woman.” I can imagine the chance to work with “Monster” director Patty Jenkins was a draw for Kidman, and also perhaps the role on page, though there’s no word yet on who she might be playing. Details on the project as a whole have been kept tightly under wraps, although recent rumors suggest that the film will take place before the events of “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” and set in three different periods: 1940s Themyscira; World War I; and the modern day.
“Wonder Woman” opens on June 23, 2017.
