Over the course of more than three days this week, famously “not famous” actor Shia LaBeouf watched his entire filmography in reverse chronology — from recent festival entry “Man Down” to the mostly forgotten “Breakfast With Einstein,” which apparently involves a dog — at New York City’s Angelika Film Center. The event kicked off with little in the way of an official announcement, but it soon spread like wildfire across social media, thanks to its wild conceit, its deeply shareable title (#ALLMYMOVIES, complete with hashtag) and that the experience was readily available to the world via a livestream that was trained exclusively on LaBeouf’s face for the duration of the event.
From Tuesday at noon until late Thursday evening, LaBeouf (and friends and strangers and lookie-loos and whoever else could cram into the theater, which soon boasted a major line that would often extend out of its doors and down the street) revisited his entire movie career without pause, and while the livestreaming audience couldn’t see what LaBeouf saw on the big screen, we got to see something arguably better: His reactions.
#ALLMYMOVIES? More like #ALLHISFACES.
