The Pfefferman clan is restlessly miserable as usual, though they’ve got a whole new set of problems leaving them longing, unfulfilled and quietly pained. Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) considers gender-assignment surgery while becoming more vocal about her identity, while elder daughter Sarah (Amy Landecker) continues to cling to the ex-husband that she dumped to be with her new girlfriend Tammy (Melora Hardin). Maura’s younger daughter Ali (Gaby Hoffman) and ex-wife Shelly (Judith Light) get by, uncertain of what the future holds for them. In perhaps the most surprising development since the end of Season 1, Josh (Jay Duplass) gets married to his rabbi ex-girlfriend (Kathryn Hahn), who seemed before to see right through to the malaise afflicting his broken but still close family.
“Transparent” Season 2 will be available to stream on Amazon on December 11.
