Last month, there were special event screenings in select cinemas across the country of the extended editions of Peter Jackson‘s “The Hobbit” trilogy, spread across three nights. But did anyone go? Did anyone actually care? I can’t recall seeing any buzz about it on social media, and it appears that, for most, the trio of movies are a cinematic memory people are fine not hanging onto. But for completion sake, “The Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies” extended edition hits home video next — and it’s rated R no less — but fifteen minutes of deleted battle footage has landed online.
Thus, you can witness plenty of CGI mayhem, big crowds of anonymous creatures battling, and be reminded of the sheer exhaustion sitting through that movie was. I can’t really imagine who wants to curl up with an even longer version, but in case you do, the disc lands on December 17th.
