In just a couple of weeks, the “Rocky” franchise continues and gets revitalized, punching its way back into multiplexes with “Creed.” It’s rather remarkable that more than three decades on from the very first film, Sylvester Stallone‘s creation continues to endure and resonate. We’ve seen the pugilist ride out various eras in American history, including the gritty ’70s, the optimistic ’80s, and the cynical ’90s, perhaps making his biggest impact during the Cold War.
Well, that’s what the folks at College Humor would have you believe with their amusing “30 For 30” parody which positions “Rocky IV” as the true story of Rocky bringing together the United States and Russia during a time when relations between the countries couldn’t be worse. It’s absurd and funny stuff, with the five-minute comedy riff playing it very straight. Check it out below. [AV Club]
