Kevin Hart has shown he’s more than capable of holding his own in a comedic duo, showing his stuff opposite Will Ferrell (“Get Hard“) and Ice Cube (“Ride Along“), cruising through two “Think Like A Man” movies, and more. But in the upcoming “Central Intelligence,” he teams up with Dwayne Johnson, and this time around, he’s dialing it down to play the straight man.
“There were moments I had to pull back when I wanted to be funny. But it wasn’t my role in this film. That was his role,” Hart told USA Today. “It’s expanding the acting portfolio I am trying to build.”
Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (“Dodgeball,” “We’re The Millers“), the comedy follows formerly bullied and pudgy Bob, who has bulked up since his high school days and become a top CIA agent. At a reunion, Bob runs into Calvin, a former classmate and now an accountant, and enlists him to help unravel a conspiracy against him.
“Central Intelligence” opens on June 17, 2016. Check out the first trailer below.
