H. Jon Benjamin is releasing a jazz album. Best known for his voice-acting on shows like “Archer” and “Bob’s Burgers,” Benjamin has no formal training in jazz, doesn’t really like jazz and readily admits this might have been a bad idea. Yet “Well I Should Have… Learned How to Play Piano” will still feature the comedian trying his best to play jazz tunes despite his complete and utter lack of musical instruction.
In the above trailer, we get an intimate look into the making of “Well I Should Have… Learned How to Play Piano.” Benjamin seeks out guidance from jazz legends, riffs on a few tracks and generally remains as bluntly honest as he’s always been about a process that’s at best difficult, at worst insane. Despite his bandmates’ testimony that “It was thoroughly horrible,” the jazz anti-genius is going at it with all he’s got.
Sure to cause any jazz aficionado to cringe in pain but leave the rest of us with a good laugh, “Well I Should Have… Learned How to Play Piano” will be available starting on November 27 via Sub Pop Records.
