As of January, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” will have officially been on television for over a decade. Yet aside from Mac gaining weight in Season 7, they all look relatively the same (which is good!) and the jokes are still hitting harder than ever (which is even better).
The biggest change to the series seems to be the plot of the episodes themselves, as everything is becoming more and more high concept. Last season an entire episode was a parody of the gang playing “Family Feud” and, of course, there was the “Birdman”/”True Detective” homage via a full-episode faux one-take, as well.
The show returns to FXX Wednesday, January 6. Check out the trailer above and you might just ask yourself, “What the hell am I looking at?”
