“Christmas, Again” is probably not the film to leave you feeling jolly this holiday season.
Kentucker Audley plays Noel, a somber and lonely man whose December is spent working the grim, frigid night shift at a sidewalk Christmas tree lot in New York City. Noel struggles to stay awake at night and drowns out the traffic enough to sleep during the day, generally surviving rather than enjoying the Christmas season; “It’s just one month a year,” he reminds himself.
The exclusive trailer above shows the film’s somber, melancholy tone and introduces Audley’s character and Hannah Gross as a mysterious young woman who helps pull Noel out of his holiday funk. We also see a few of Noel’s eccentric customers and get a taste of his existential nervousness when he scolds a coworker for not cleaning up fallen needles, telling him customers don’t want to be reminded the trees are already dead.
The film will be released on Fandor, VOD platforms and at the MoMA in New York City on December 3. It will expand to Los Angeles at the Laemmle Noho 7 on December 11.
