Tom McCarthy’s journalism drama “Spotlight” is one of the most acclaimed films of the year, and it should have no problem securing multiple nominations come Oscar time. Starring a dynamic ensemble cast, including Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams and Mark Ruffalo, the film recounts the Boston Globe’s investigation into accusations of sex abuse in the Catholic Church. Their efforts won them the Pulitzer Prize and forever changed the way the world viewed religion.
After a couple of successful weeks in limited release, “Spotlight” is finally opening nationwide this weekend, and Open Road Films has released a new clip that puts Ruffalo’s Michael Rezendes front and center. With the pieces of the story coming together, Rezendes wants to break the report ASAP so that the people of Boston can be informed about the truth, though editor Walter Robinson (Michael Keaton) wants to wait so that the team can dig deeper, leading Rezendes to an emotional boiling point.
