'American Movie' Wins 2016 Cinema Eye Honors Legacy Award

Cinema Eye Honors has announced that “American Movie” will be the recipient of its 2016 Legacy Award. “American Movie” is a 1999 cult classic that follows the home-grown production of a low-budget horror film in the Midwest.

Filmmaker Steve James will present the award to director Chris Smith at the Cinema Eye Honors Award Ceremony. Furthermore, “American Movie” will have a special screening at the 2016 Hot Docs Festival in Toronto, Canada.
