The news comes as both shows near their season finales, and the same week Showtime became available as an add-on to Amazon Prime subscriptions. With Showtime Anytime widely available — including at a discount through Amazon and Hulu — it makes sense for the network to stick with its most buzzed-about dramas.
“Homeland” and “The Affair” both have two episodes left in their current seasons: They air back-to-back on Sunday nights, with “Homeland” starting at 9pm. Showtime stated in its announcement that the finale for “The Affair” will be an extended 70-minute episode, and will finally answer who killed Scotty Lockhart.
No official word was given as to when the new shows would air, but fall 2016 seems like a safe bet. To catch up on what’s happened already this season, read Indiewire’s episode reviews for all episodes of “Homeland” and “The Affair.”
