The boots are
back! The world’s greatest feline swordfighter swings back in action in
his all-new season two of The Adventures of Puss In Boots.
The Dreamworks series has 11 new episodes, starting today, exclusively available on Netflix, and it’s principal creatives – show runner Doug Langdale and director Lane Lueras – did a quick-chat with us and gave us the scoop:
Jerry Beck: For the
record, how long was this current season in production.
Doug Langdale: The current
season, from first first story meetings to finished episodes, took two years.
Lane Laeras: There are 78
episodes of the series in production – this second season encompasses episodes
#13-26.
JB: So tell us what we can
look forward to in these.
DL: Well for one, Puss
discovers a kingdom of Mole People…
LL: …and then discovers a
kingdom underneath the mole people.
DL: We introduce a Mermaid
character voiced by Maria Bamford – super hilarious…
LL: …and super creepy. We
are introducing several new characters to the continuity and starting to build
towards a central climax.
DL: We also have some
dramatic stand offs, and Puss faces some real challenges – viewers will note the
show become more serialized as it goes on. So watch them all – in order!
LL: We should mention that
we introduce several new songs this season – attention Grammy voters!
JB: The show is clever and
funny, contains special sequences I especially love done in 2-D animation…
DL: I’m happy to say the
2D inserts will continue. Everyone loves them.
With an amazing voice cast
including Danny Trejo, John Leguizamo, Maria Bamford, Patton
Oswalt, Jack McBrayer – and the multi-talented Eric Bauza as
“Puss in Boots” himself – I know what I’m binge-watching this
weekend.
So set yourself
up with warm glass of milk and a big bowl of snacks and watch as Puss
sets off to slay a dragon, battles a mole king, and races against the clock to
restore the spell protecting the town of San Lorenzo.
