“Anomalisa” distributor Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Landmark Theaters in four of the country’s top movie markets — New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago — for a five-film retrospective devoted to the man behind the stop-motion madness: Charlie Kaufman.
As Kaufman’s latest opens in limited release December 31 and expands throughout January, select Landmark theaters in the four cities will be celebrating Kaufman’s filmography over four days. The Charlie Kaufman Retrospective will take place at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema in New York, The Landmark in Los Angeles, the Century Centre Cinema in Chicago, and the Embarcadero Center Cinema in San Francisco.
In New York and Los Angeles, showings of “Anomalisa” will include Q&As with the movie’s filmmakers and voice talent. On Monday, January 4 in Los Angeles, the 7:30pm showing will feature a Q&A with Kaufman, co-director Duke Johnson and producer Rosa Tran. On Thursday, January 7 in New York, the 7:30 pm screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s voice actor Tom Noonan.
