Sara Quin of pop duo Tegan and Sara has composed her first film score for “The Intervention,” the upcoming directorial debut of Clea DuVall. The film will make its world premiere in competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The score comes ahead of her 8th studio album with Tegan and Sara, the celebrated band she has worked with for 17 years.

Quin said, “It was an incredibly exciting opportunity to score Clea Duvall’s excellent film. The greatest challenge for me was ensuring I wasn’t diminishing the impact of the clever and heartfelt dialogue spoken throughout. I enjoyed trying to marry my own pop aesthetic to a more organic instrumentation that felt appropriate to the film, and I learned a lot about subtraction and ‘less is more.'”

“The Intervention” depicts a weekend getaway for four couples that takes a turn when it is revealed that the entire trip was staged in order to hold an intervention for one of the couples. The film features a Sundance-friendly ensemble, including Melanie Lynskey, Cobie Smulders, Clea DuVall, Natasha Lyonne, Vincent Piazza, Jason Ritter, Ben Schwartz and Alia Shawkat.
