‘Selma,’ ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Earn Multiple Grammy Nominations

'Selma,' 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Earn Multiple Grammy Nominations

Kendrick Lamar may have led this morning Grammy nominations with 11, including an album of the year nod for “To Pimp a Butterfly,” but it was “Fifty Shades of Grey” that dominated the visual media categories. Its three nominations led the field, followed by “Selma,” with two—Best Compilation Soundtrack and Best Song, “Glory,” which took home the Oscar for Best Original Song earlier this year.

The Grammys’ eligibility deadlines (Oct. 1, 2014 – Sept. 30, 2015 for the 2016 ceremony) explain the five 2014 titles vying for Best Score, but not all of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ selections were out of date. The first season of FOX’s smash hit “Empire” received a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack, and Oscar-shortlisted documentaries “Amy,” “The Hunting Ground,” and “What Happened, Miss Simone?” earned one apiece. Check out our full list of film- and TV-related Grammy nominations below.
