For what looks to be a charming, funny and ultimately sweet romantic comedy, the premise of “Night Owls” on its surface feels like the one-night-stand from hell. Directed by Charles Hood, “Night Owls” sees workaholic Kevin go home with Madeline after a drunken hookup, only to discover they are at his boss’ house and she is his ex-mistress. After Madeline takes a bottle of sleeping pills, Kevin must keep her awake all night long or else she might never wake up.

Adam Pally of “Happy Endings” and Rosa Salazar of “Parenthood” star as the unlikely couple. Tony Hale, Rob Huebel and Peter Krause co-star.

In the exclusive clip above, Kevin tries to woo Madeline outside his boss’ house and wake her up from her stupor, promising fresh air and email tips about the health benefits of e-cigarettes. Madeline’s pill-induced stupor aside, the two still demonstrate an utterly charming chemistry, full of witty banter. As the mumbling Madeline, Salazar showcases her giftedness with physical comedy and is in complete control of her body and her drowsy delivery.

“Night Owls” will be released in theaters and On Demand on December 4.
