With the new year fast approaching, the editorial world is quickly shifting from “Best of 2015” retrospectives to 2016 previews, and there’s no better way to start that transition than with a supercut carved straight from Indiewire’s 2015 Year-End Critics Poll.
More than 200 critics from around the world voted this year in 14 categories for the latest edition of the poll, which celebrated its 10th anniversary after launching back in 2006. One of the most enticing categories is “Most Anticipated of 2016,” which invites critics to pick a favorite film they have already seen that won’t be distributed stateside until next year. Considering just how strong of a year it was on the festival circuit, there was no shortage of undistributed movies to choose from.
From Robert Eggers’ Sundance sensation “The Witch” to Terrence Malick’s “Knight of Cups” and acclaimed foreign entries like “My Golden Days,” “The Lobster” and “The Treasure,” check out all of the Critics Poll winners in the supercut above.
