After earning some of the strongest reviews for a premiere out of the Toronto International Film Festival, and screening to similar positive buzz at the London Film Festival, Ben Wheatley’s dark comedy-thriller “High-Rise” finally has a teaser trailer that takes the word “tease” very, very seriously.
Instead of sharing any story developments or characters from the film, which is based on J.G. Ballard’s 1975 sci-fi novel and focuses on the class warfare that breaks out in a high-rise condo following a series of power outages, the teaser trailer simply introduces the many luxuries of the film’s setting.
Narrated with a menacing calm by Tom Hiddleston, the teaser introduces the 40-floor high-rise, created by esteemed architect Anthony Royal (Jeremy Irons), and all of its modern conveniences, from a fully-stocked supermarket to a gym, swimming pool, spa, school and more. As Hiddleston concludes (and warns), “There’s almost no reason to leave.”
The movie also stars Sienna Miller, Luke Evans and Elisabeth Moss. Magnolia Pictures’ genre arm Magnet Releasing will release “High-Rise” next year. Watch the teaser above.
