Logline: A touching animated short about everlasting friendship between a dog and his tennis ball.
You’ll never look at tennis balls the same way. “Chase the Ball” is a story about best friends; a tennis ball and his dog named Chase. Told from the tennis ball’s perspective during the final day of Chase’s life, the ball reminisces about their time together allowing witness to the formation of a life long bond not even death can break.
Ian Johnson (Animation Director) – Co-founder of TML studios in Salt Lake City. Emmy nominated for animation work on the Nickelodeon series, “Aquabats.”
Tim Rowberry (Producer) – Co-founder of TML studios.
About the Film:
“Chase The Ball” deals with a very emotional topic of the loss of a loved one. By using a character with a unique perspective (i.e. the tennis ball) I wanted to explore the thought process and emotional stress one goes through when death transitions from being an abstract possibility to a heartbreaking certainty. At it’s surface, “Chase The Ball” appears to be a sad story, but underneath that surface is a deeper meaning that addresses the complex issue of finding closure after our loved ones are gone.
Current Status: We are raising funds on Kickstarter to turn this story into a 6 minute animated short using traditional animation.
