Twenty days. We’re only 20 days away from the return of “The X-Files.” For many, that realization must be stunning after years of rumors, buzz and speculation over if and when Mulder and Scully would come back. Now, it’s all set up. Trailers are out. Billboards have been made. Ads are running. “The X-Files” is kicking off 2016 in style come January 24.
But that’s not all there is to be excited about it in the new year. In addition to an unprecedented number of Netflix originals and untold year-end entries (unconfirmed and unscheduled as of these early days in January), 2016 promises a bounty of worthy additions to your constantly rising list of “must see TV.”
Indiewire TV Editor Liz Shannon Miller and TV Critic Ben Travers sifted through the sea of options and picked six series to look forward to for the first episode of Very Good TV Podcast in 2016 (and the 42nd episode overall). And don’t worry: Despite “The Leftovers” getting picked up for a third (and final) season in 2016, that isn’t one of Ben’s picks. (It still comes up, though.)
