READ MORE: ‘Animals’ Creators on Mark Duplass and If Film Fests are the Future of Indie TV
UPDATE: HBO has announced that “Animals.” episodes will debut early on HBO NOW & HBO Go, starting with the premiere on Thursday, February 4. All subsequent episodes of Season 1 will also be available to stream a day before their cable premiere, as well.
After premiering at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Mike Luciano and Phil Matarese’s animated comedy “Animals.” is set to make its worldwide debut via HBO, just over a year later. Set in New York, NY, “Animals.” tracks the lives of the city’s voiceless population of pets, service animals and general wildlife as they go about their business. Be it awkward parties, making babies, complaining about work or surviving a prison sentence, each silent creature is allowed to have his or her say in this half-hour comedy series.
And boy did they grab some great voices. Joining creators Luciano and Matarese is an all-star cast of actors, including Eric Andre, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Rocky, Katie Aselton, Jessica Chastain, Rob Corddry, Jay and Mark Duplass (who also executive produced), Ellie Kemper, Nick Kroll, Lauren Lapkus, Melanie Lynskey, Marc Maron, Kumail Nanjiani, Horatio Sanz, Adam Scott, Molly Shannon, Wanda Sykes, Cobie Smulders, Kurt Vile, Matt Walsh, Zach Woods and Steve Zissis.
Watch the trailer above and check out “Animals.” when it premieres February 5 at 11:30pm, exclusively on HBO.
