After “Parks and Recreation” launched her into the public eye, Aubrey Plaza has become universally loved as and by the unashamedly weird. She may never have been discovered at all if she went a different way in her career, and Plaza examines her early career decisions in this exclusive interview with Sam Jones.
In the above clip, Plaza discusses the choices she’s made that led her down the path she’s on now, including an “SNL” audition she had to skip and the Judd Apatow movie that made her do so.
In her next film, “Dirty Grandpa,” Plaza talks about acting across from Robert De Niro. Apparently the only reason she’s in the film was because she auditioned for a different part than the one they asked her to audition for. “In the script, my character, Lenore, was written as like a big breasted blonde tan party girl. […] I did the scene, but I just started saying really disgusting things into the camera […] and then I flashed them and then I walked out.”
