Now that we’re deep in the throes of winter, you might be missing a bit of that summer feeling. But the good news, at least for those in the U.K., is that a bit of heat is coming with “I Am Love” director Luca Guadagnino’s latest effort “A Bigger Splash,” and a new trailer is to bring a bit of summery pleasure.
Starring Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Matthias Schoenaerts, the film is a remake of sorts of Jacques Deray‘s “La Piscine,” following a rock star and filmmaker whose holiday gets an unexpected disruption. Reviewed at the Venice Film Festival last year, Jessica Kiang noted that it wasn’t high art, but nonetheless, it provided “a good time.” Here’s the official synopsis:
Rock legend Marianne Lane is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue. A BIGGER SPLASH is a sensuous portrait of desire, jealousy and rock and roll, under the Mediterranean sun.
“A Bigger Splash” opens in the U.K. on February 12th and in the U.S. on May 13th. Watch below.
