January has already had one middling horror movie, with “Game Of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer‘s “The Forest,” now another actress from a hit cable show is going down the horror path too. This weekend, in fact. And STX is doing one last bid to drum up interest in “The Boy,” by dropping a new trailer for the movie.
“The Walking Dead” star Lauren Cohan leads the movie, playing a young woman who takes a babysitting gig for a creepy couple (first sign of danger), in a creepy mansion (second sign of danger), only to find out their child is actually a doll, that might also be possessed (three strikes and you’re out?). Here’s the official synopsis:
The Boy is a frightening thrill ride directed by William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) starring Lauren Cohan (“The Walking Dead”). Greta (Cohan) is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.
“The Boy” opens on Friday. Watch below.
