Anything is a movie these days, so yes, a forgotten ’90s toy and a mobile app are all fair game. And both of those examples are getting the big screen treatment, so sit back, and watch corporate synergy at work.

First up is “Trolls,” with those freakishly haired dolls now getting a movie. Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick are voice leads for this one that follows Poppy and Branch, as they embark on an adventure that takes them far beyond the only world they’ve ever known.
Meanwhile, “The Angry Birds Movie” has brought together Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Bill Hader, Peter Dinklage, Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, Jillian Bell, Danielle Brooks, Romeo Santos, and Smosh for the adventure that sees the titular avian heroes facing off against mysterious green piggies.
“Trolls” opens on November 4th, with “The Angry Birds Movie” arriving first on May 20th.
