It was only a matter of time before the swiftly rising “Star Wars” star hosted “SNL.” Adam Driver, who first revealed his talent on HBO’s “Girls,” has gone from breakout TV star to international phenomenon. Since “Girls,” Adam has starred in indie darlings such as “While We’re Young” and “Hungry Hearts” as well as larger more notable pieces like “Inside Llewellyn Davis” and “This is Where I Leave You.” Now, for better or worse, he will most likely be remembered forever as Kylo Ren, the angst-ridden Darth Vader wannabee from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
This is Driver’s first time hosting which, as he puts it in the video above, “I’m the new guy, and they don’t trust the new guy with the promos in the studio, so they brought us here, to this Godforsaken diner to laugh and joke and dance like everything’s okay, but everything’s not okay.”
If these promos tell us anything, it’s that Driver’s diverse talent should blend nicely with the “SNL” atmosphere this Saturday on NBC when he hosts with Chris Stapleton as the musical guest.
