As John Oliver fans eagerly wait for his holiday hiatus to come to an end, the British native couldn’t help but tease them with a comical recap of the last few rejected graphics from “Last Week Tonight.” The host seemingly can’t wait to return to HBO for some more brash, well-informed social commentary, and he has taken it upon himself, for the second time, to showcase the ridiculousness of his graphic teams’ discarded efforts.
From a bird named Hennifer Aniston, to Paul Giamatti mango, this digital exclusive from HBO takes some time to demonstrate just how absurd some of the show’s Photoshopping endeavors have been. While Oliver explains that most of the graphics are made out of necessity, because they would never exist in the real world — like a Pope Francis-branded condom — “other graphics, we were sort of amazed we had to make,” said Oliver. How could it be that Jacksonville, Florida had never been overrun with crocodiles? Is it that inconceivable to find a photo of Nicholas Cage agreeing to appear in a film called “Bark to the Future?”
Watch John Oliver round up these and more graphic inventions above, before tuning into the Season 3 premiere on February 14.
