Indie distributor Cinema Guild has announced that Blandine Mercier-McGovern has been appointed as Head of Distribution, replacing Ryan Krivoshey.
Mercier-McGovern, who has worked at Cinema Guild for over four years in acquisitions, digital and non-theatrical sales, will spearhead acquisitions and oversee distribution for all divisions of the company. Prior to her years with the distribution company, Mercier-McGovern handled theatrical marketing at Argot Pictures. She will attend the upcoming Berlin Film Festival to look for films to acquire under Cinema Guild.
“I am very excited to lead Cinema Guild, which has become one of the most important and revered independent film distribution companies in the country,” she said in an official statement. “2015 was an incredible year for us and I look forward to continuing to introduce daring new works to film lovers across the country.”
“We are delighted to promote Blandine to Head of Distribution,” added Cinema Guild co-founder Mary-Ann Hobel. “Her impeccable taste, sharp understanding of the competitive landscape and of Cinema Guild’s prestigious catalog spanning over 45 years are a tremendous asset to the company and its continued growth.”
Mercier-McGovern is the first woman to lead the company after Hobel, who remains active in the business.
