First Look: Terrence Malick's Documentary 'Voyage Of Time'

Two years ago, it was reported that Terrence Malick‘s decades-in-the works documentary, “Voyage Of Time,” would be released in 2016. But even the most casual observer of the director knew that trying to hold the filmmaker down to a firm date was probably foolish, given that he works at his own pace. But it appears there is some real movement on the movie.

The first images from the doc have arrived, and of course, they’re pretty stunning. To recap, “Voyage Of Time” will be arriving in two flavors, a 40-minute IMAX cut narrated by Brad Pitt, and a 35mm feature length version narrated by Cate Blanchett. Here’s the official synopsis:

VOYAGE OF TIME is a celebration of the universe, displaying the whole of time, from its start to its final collapse. This film examines all that occurred to prepare the world that stands before us now: science and spirit, birth and death, the grand cosmos and the minute life systems of our planet.

Meanwhile, it was reported last fall that Ennio Morricone would be scoring the picture, but the conductor’s name has disappeared off the sales agent Wild Bunch‘s page, where it first appeared. So, we’ll just have to wait and see if he’s off the project (if he was even on it in the first place).

No firm release dates yet for “Voyage Of Time,” but the Cannes Film Festival now seems like a very good possibility. [via The Film Stage]
