We’ll follow Jessica Chastain into whatever project she does, even if it’s “The Huntsman.” But generally speaking, her choices are on point, selecting challenging, interesting material that stands outside the usual Hollywood fare. For every “The Martian,” she does “Crimson Peak” and “A Most Violent Year,” mixing big studio fare, with smaller scale stories. And her latest move is starring in another fascinating gig.
The actress has signed up to lead “Woman Walking Ahead.” Set to be directed by Susanna White (“Generation Kill,” “Our Kind Of Traitor“), the movie will tell the true story of a woman from Brooklyn who journeyed to Standing Rock Reservation to help Sitting Bull defend his last. Her efforts didn’t work, and she was banished, only to return and settle in his camp with her teenage son, earning her the name, Woman Walking Ahead.
No word yet on when production might begin, but the project is headed to the market at the Berlin Film Festival to drum up financing, so as per usual, it will probably depend on how that all plays out. [Deadline]
