Logline: A psychological horror film following a lonely poet who sabotages his most precious relationships as his fantasy world overtakes his reality.
Elevator Pitch:
Rene Sendam is deeply troubled. A lonely graduate student, a gifted and thoughtful poet, an often alienating eccentric. Rene has lived a fantasy life of wonder and beauty…and a real life of isolation and rejection. “The Dreams of Rene Sendam” follows Rene’s friendships with three other students, including his relationship with Marie DiPierro, a free spirit traumatized by her father’s untimely death. Eventually Rene’s dream world overtakes his reality leading to the question who—or what—is Rene Sendam?
Production Team:
Director – Joshua Zev Nathan
Producers – Cortney Lynn Kammerer and J.S. Hampton (“Jayhawkers”)
Cinematographer – Iain Trimble (“Goodland”)
About the Film:
My hope is that “The Dreams of Rene Sendam” adds to the difficult dialogue on the problem of evil and the urgent need to understand the subtle yet crucial differences between a person who commits evil, and the many who don’t. Because of its content, “The Dreams of Rene Sendam” will be a thought provoking film for viewers with its controversial subject matter, potentially heinous acts and the lead character navigating the fine line between love and evil.
Current Status: The film has been green-lit, and will shoot in Summer 2016 in Kansas.
