BBC America has announced its air date for the latest season of the hit sci-fi series “Orphan Black.” As we see in a newly released trailer (which has the tag line “New season. New night.”), the series will now air on Thursdays, beginning April 14.
The new season follows protagonist Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) as she returns home on the hunt for a new ally linked to clone Beth (also Maslany), whose death made for a high-impact ending to last season. Sarah’s sisters join her in the their continued search for the truth behind the clone conspiracy — and become entangled with a dangerous enemy along the way.
If this season’s trajectory sounds familiar to fans of the show, it is undoubtedly intentional. The new trailer begins with Sarah announcing that she’s going “back to the beginning of all this,” and the show’s creators have been quoted in Variety as saying that this fourth season intends to bring back the heavy sense of “paranoia” which characterized the clone thriller’s first season, with Maslany’s character once again “following a first-person mystery.”
The new trailer also offers fans another glimpse of clone M.K. (Maslany again), a character who made her first appearance in an earlier teaser and who just might be the key to unravelling that mystery.
“Orphan Black” Season 4 is set to air on BBC America on April 14.
