READ MORE: NYFF Review: Don Cheadle’s ‘Miles Ahead’ Isn’t Really a Miles Davis Biopic
After premiering to considerable buzz at the New York Film Festival last year, audiences have been waiting for Don Cheadle’s ambitious Miles Davis biopic, in which he stars and also directs for the very first time.
While the movie is still a couple months away from release — Sony Pictures Classics will open the drama in select theaters on April 1, just weeks after it screens at the SXSW Film Festival — a debut trailer has hit the web, and it’s quite a musical force to be reckoned with.
Blending both facts and impressions, “Miles Ahead” focuses on the legendary jazz musician’s crazed years in the late 1970s, during which he struggled with a variety of ailments while also contending with memories of past triumphs and falls. His years with Frances Taylor (Emayatzy Corinealdi), the love of his life, are also explored.
The film’s debut trailer is as electrifying as the subject at its center. Watch the video above.
