Tonight may be host to Hollywood’s starriest night, thanks to the 88th Annual Academy Awards, but halfway across the country, a very different kind of event will be playing out. As reported by BuzzFeed earlier this week, filmmakers Ryan Coogler and Ava DuVernay, Grammy nominee Janelle Monae, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams, comedian Hannibal Buress and many more will be skipping the Oscars in favor of the #JUSTICEFORFLINT benefit in Flint, Michigan.

The event will benefit the community of Flint, which has been suffering from water contamination on a huge scale for nearly two years. It is being presented by the Blackout for Human Rights activist collective, and is free and open to all.

“With the #JUSTICEFORFLINT benefit event we will give a voice to the members of the community who were the victims of the choices of people in power who are paid to protect them, as well as provide them with a night of entertainment, unity, and emotional healing,” Coogler told BuzzFeed earlier this week.

You can watch the #JUSTICEFORFLINT benefit live on revolt.tv. The event will be held at Flint’s Whiting Auditorium (located at 1241 E. Kearsley St.), starting at 5:30PM ET. Donations will be accepted live, and there will also be an option to donate funds via text.
