Sometimes, marketing a movie means getting a bit shameless, and that’s what Sony has done with their latest red band spot for “The Brothers Grimsby.” In case you didn’t know who Sacha Baron Cohen was, this new spot reminds you he’s the guy who was Ali G and Borat, before diving into his upcoming comedy. While direct and effective, it maybe doesn’t give the audience enough credit… But hey, whatever works.
As you likely know by now, the comedy co-stars Mark Strong, Rebel Wilson, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Gabourey Sidibe and Isla Fisher, and follows estranged brothers, who are reunited, but of course they couldn’t be more different. One is a soccer loving doofus, and the other is super serious secret spy. What could go wrong? Here’s the synopsis:
Nobby has everything a man from the poor English fishing town of Grimsby could want – 9 children and the most attractive girlfriend in northern England (Rebel Wilson). There’s only one thing missing in his life: his little brother, Sebastian. After they were adopted by different families as children, Nobby spent 28 years searching for him. Upon hearing of his location, Nobby sets off to reunite with his brother, unaware that not only is his brother an MI6 agent, but he’s just uncovered a plot that puts the world in danger. On the run and wrongfully accused, Sebastian realizes that if he is going to save the world, he will need the help of its biggest idiot.
“The Brothers Grimsby” opens in the U.K. on February 24th and in the U.S. on March 11th. Watch below.
