'East of Eden' Star Richard Davalos Dies

Richard Davaolos, the actor who famously shared the screen with James Dean in Elia Kazan’s “East of Eden,” has passed away at the age of 85, Variety reports. 

Davalos’ career in Hollywood spanned five decades. His most well-known film credits included “I Died a Thousand Times,” “All the Young Men,” “The Cabinet of Caligari,” “Cool Hand Luke,” “Pit Stop,” “Kelly’s Heroes,” “Brother, Cry for Me,” “Hot Stuff,” “Death Hunt” and “Something Wicked This Way Comes.”

The actor also had a healthy television career, with roles on shows like the ’60s-era “The Americans,” “Bonanza,” “Hawaiian Eye,” “77 Sunset Strip,” “Perry Mason,” “Rawhide,” “Mannix,” “SWAT,” “The Rockford Files,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Jeffersons,” “Hart to Hart” and “Murder, She Wrote.”

He is survived by his daughters Elyssa and Dominique. His grandaughter, Alexa, currently stars on Amazon’s “The Man in High Castle.” Davalos passed away at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California.
