Fandango announced today their planned March 30 launch of FandangoNOW, billed as the company’s “first-ever premium on-demand video service, offering a massive library of new release and catalog movies from all major studios and next-day TV shows for purchase and rental on a wide variety of connected, over-the-top (OTT) and mobile devices.” The new service will be available on the Web, iOS, Android, and Roku devices, as well as on Smart TVs from Samsung, LG and Vizio. Other platforms will be added in the coming months.
FandangoNOW will use the previously existing M-GO digital video distribution platform, which the company acquired earlier this year. Per the official press release, the M-GO purchase was made expressly so that Fandango “could serve consumers throughout the entire movie life cycle with compelling new digital movie products, including ‘super tickets’ and other theatrical ticket and home entertainment products.”
Of the news, Fandango President Paul Yanover, commented, “The launch of FandangoNOW is a huge milestone for the company, as we aim to deliver the best movie experience anytime and anywhere, across the total movie lifecycle. We’re thrilled to launch FandangoNOW in time for 2016’s most anticipated in-home debuts, including recent blockbusters and Oscar contenders for which we sold millions of tickets during their theatrical release.”
