Actor Laurent Lafitte has agreed to be the Master of Ceremonies at the 69th Cannes Film Festival under the presidency of “Mad Max” director George Miler. Last year’s Master of Ceremonies was French actor Lambert Wilson, who has starred in blockblusters like “The Matrix Reloaded.”

A prolific actor since the 90s, Lafitte is a versatile French actor known for comedies (“The Other Side of the Tracks,” “Papa ou maman”) and arthouse films (“Little White Lies,” “Bright Days Ahead”). He appeared alongside Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson in “The Love Punch” in 2013, and just signed on to star with Uma Thurman in Marjane Satrapi’s adaptation of Romain Puértolas’ novel “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir in an IKEA Wardrobe.”

The Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 11-22, in Cannes, France.
