Watch: Cannes Winner 'The Measure of a Man' Unveils Stirring New Trailer

At last year’s edition of the Cannes Film Festival, hometown hero Stéphane Brizé brought along his latest feature, a social commentary in the form of a powerful, thought-provoking drama, titled “The Measure of a Man.” The film, which was acquired by Kino Lorber, fits comfortably with the rest of Brizé’s films on the social state of his country. With “The Measure of a Man,” he continues to explore those very themes, and with the new U.S. trailer, we finally get to preview the film before it arrives later this year.

In “The Measure of a Man,” Vincent Lindon plays the unemployed Thierry, who is forced to keep going down the ladder despite his qualifications and experience. He must surrender his ego as he attempts to hold his head above water to remain employed, even after enduring repeated humiliation. We see him go through pointless training courses, do work interviews via Skype and join a workshop for those seeking to better their interview performances, all of which eventually try to destroy any hint of self-respect left within him.
