Watch: David Lynch's 'Blue Velvet' is Restored in 30th Anniversary Trailer and Poster

Film revivals are always a gift for cinephiles. But when said revival involves a restoration print of David Lynch’s iconic 1986 mystery “Blue Velvet,” that’s just a necessity. Starting Friday, March 25 at Film Forum and running through Thursday, March 31, “Blue Velvet” will return to the big screen in all its evocative glory, just in time for its 30th anniversary. The restoration will tour the country after its New York run and hit the U.K. in the fall, but for now you can reintroduce yourself to the mystery with a gorgeous new trailer and poster.

Starring Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Laura Dern and Dennis Hopper as one of the most vile antagonists in movie history, “Blue Velvet” is set in the idyllic town of Lumberton, North Carolina and uncovers all the sexual violence and perverted corruption that exists beneath the white picket fences. MacLachlan’s Jeffrey Beaumont returns home after his father suffers a stroke and discovers a severed ear in a vacant lot, igniting a mystery that involves a seductive lounge singer and a sadomasochistic psychopath.

Lynch’s film is not just a hallmark of his filmography but also one of the seminal titles of the 1980s. The chance to see a restored version on the big screen is an essential experience for anyone who is a fan of the movies. New Yorkers can visit the Film Forum website now to purchase tickets. Watch the 30th anniversary trailer above, and check out the stunning poster below.
