With the recent death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, there has been significant rumblings about who the nomination will be, and, most importantly, whether or not it will be announced during Obama’s tenure. As Democrats and Republicans continue to bicker in Congress about the issue, HBO has taken it upon itself to remind the public that the seat isn’t as noble as we think.
After the death of Justice Thurgood Marshall in the early ’90s, Clarence Thomas (Wendell Pierce) became the frontrunner to replace the first African American Supreme Court Justice. But that legacy would soon be questioned and rightfully tarnished as Anita Hill (Kerry Washington) came forward to testify against the character and fitness of Thomas, citing that the prominent attorney had sexually harassed her during her spell as an attorney-adviser to Thomas during his time at the United States Department of Education.
With a stellar ensemble cast, including Greg Kinnear (“Little Miss Sunshine”), Jeffrey Wright (“Casino Royale”), Eric Stonestreet (“Modern Family”), and Jennifer Hudson (“Dreamgirls”), as well as a powerful writing-director duo, “Confirmation” is set to shake up the already tumultuous American political landscape.
