As the 2016 Cannes Film Festival slowly approaches, last year’s opener will finally hit theaters in the United States. Winner of two César Awards and nominee for six others, “Standing Tall” is the fourth feature film from director Emmanuelle Bercot.
The French drama follows the struggles of a delinquent teen (Rod Paradot) as he tries to better himself, aided by a warm-hearted judge (Catherine Deneuve) and a devoted social worker (Benoît Magimel). At the Césars, Paradot won the Most Promising Actor prize, while Magimel took home Best Supporting Actor.
“Standing Tall” opens in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles on April 1.
