It’s been a few years since we have last seen Edina and Patsy of “Absolutely Fabulous,” the British sitcom created, written, and starring English comic Jennifer Saunders, on the small screen, but now they’re set to make their big-screen debut with “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.” The film follows boozy, drug-abusing PR agent Edina (Saunders) and her enabling magazine editor Patsy (Joanna Lumley) as they head to a glitzy fashion launch party only to be blamed for possibly killing model Kate Moss. Soon, Edina and Patsy are on the run to the south of France, where “everyone’s a criminal,” where they try to make their escape permanent so they can live the high life forever. Based on a sketch from the comedy series “French & Saunders,” the original “Absolutely Fabulous,” or “Ab Fab” as it’s colloquially called, run aired from 1992 to 1996 with three seasons and two specials. It was then revived for a second series in 2001 with two seasons and two specials. Then, three more special episodes aired between 2011 and 2012 to honor the series’ 20th anniversary.
“Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” will be released on July 1st in the UK and then on July 22nd in the United States.
