If this out-of-context phrase mean anything to you, the above video may be relevant to your interests: “Let off some steam, Bennett.” (One more try in case you didn’t get that one: “Applesauce, bitch.”) Burger Fiction has put together a comprehensive video celebrating the art of the post-kill one-liner.
Leading the pack are Danny Glover, Keanu Reeves, Kevin Costner, Bruce Willis, Chris Tucker, Clive Owen and a lot of Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Bond. Not that prominently featured are Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal, likely because their bodies of work are too nuanced for pithy soundbites. (I’m only half kidding.) Spoilers abound, kind of, but most of the clips are so short and context-free that you’re unlikely to have any idea which movie they’re from. And besides, nearly every single exchange boils down to a recognizable movie star killing a nameless bad guy — not exactly a significant plot detail in most cases.
The video, a follow-up to Burger Fiction’s compilation of the 100 best one-liners made before a kill, will take up just under 13 minutes of your time. One can only assume that their next production will be a list of famous last words in movies.
