Morgan Krantz’s feature film directorial debut “Babysitter” has a new trailer just in time for it’s digital and on demand May 3rd release.
The film, which premiered last year at SXSW Film Festival, follows Ray Longway (Max Burkholder), a moody teenager in the middle of his parents divorce. His mother, who is a struggling actress who is used to the lavish L.A. lifestyle, is now at odds and faces losing everything unless Ray makes the custody decision she wants. In the meantime, the family hires a Wiccan-practicing babysitter, Anjelika (Daniele Watts), who slowly fills the void in their lives. After a special night together with Ray, Anjelika forms a special bond with him that could jeopardize his mother’s master plan.
Indiewire previously stated that the also Krantz-written drama: “[Has] a gentle, unassuming style that taps into its troubled protagonist’s point of view, Krantz delivers a fragile narrative that earns comparisons to ‘Freaks and Geeks’ for its careful navigation of drama and comedy.” Adding that it, “Maintains a sense of innocence about the dark elements in play — much like its lead character.”
