April 14 marks National Dolphin Day, and to honor the occasion Kareem Tabusch’s documentary “Dolphin Lover,” an unbelievable but true story about a romantic and sexual relationship between a man and a dolphin, will be available for free on YouTube.
The controversial and critically-acclaimed short film tells the tale of Malcolm Brenner, a college student who in the ‘70s landed a freelance job photographing the marine animals at Floridaland, a roadside amusement park. This gig introduced him to Dolly, a captive bottlenose dolphin, who he engaged in a “love affair” for over a year.
“Dolphin Lover” was premiered during last year’s Slamdance Film Festival, and received an honorable mention during the awards ceremony in Park City. The teaser had over 750,000 views on YouTube when it was first released.
