While Christmas is still eight months away, Universal Pictures is already asking: can a family go drama-free five days before the big holiday? It most certainly seems the answer is no, according to their upcoming comedy “Almost Christmas,” starring Danny Glover.
Celebrating his first Christmas since the death of his wife, Glover, the patriarch of the household, gathers his family and asks them to get along for five days to enjoy a peaceful Christmas. It’s easier said than done, as things go awry with family members starting to argue, tease, get competitive and even pull pranks on each other. Meanwhile, Gabrielle Union and Omar Epps wind up in an inconvenient “position,” and Mo’Nique just tells it like it is to anyone around.
“Almost Christmas” is written and directed by David E. Talbert (“Baggage Claim”) and produced by Will Packer (“Ride Along”), who bring a diverse and well-known ensemble to the bring screen. The star-studded cast also includes Kimberly Elise, Romany Malco, Nicole Ari Parker, J.B. Smoove, Jessie Usher and DC Young Fly.
