Last night on ABC’s fairy tale drama “Once Upon a Time,” there was a reveal that fans have been waiting for all season. When Ruby (Meghan Ory) and Mulan (Jamie Chung) team up with Dorothy (Teri Reeves) to take down Zelena, or the Wicked Witch of the West, Dorothy is placed under a sleeping curse that can only be broken with a true love’s kiss. This time, it’s Ruby who brings Dorothy back with the kiss, and she promises Dorothy that she’ll “always come back for her.”
Before the beginning of this current season, “Once Upon a Time” producers have promised its fans that the series would showcase a LGBT couple sometime during the year. This tease has prompted wild speculation from fans as to who the couple might be, but because the show opted not to do any kind of targeted promotion for last night’s episode, many fans were surprised by the reveal. In an interview with EW, executive producer Adam Horowitz announced that their goal was not to make the reveal a Very Special Episode, but rather to “make it as we see it in the real world, just as normal and as a part of every day life as it should be.”
“Once Upon a Time” airs Sunday nights at 8pm ET on ABC.
