Steven Soderbergh Directed Music Video For DTCV's "Histoire Seule"

Steven Soderbergh‘s TV series adaptation of “The Girlfriend Experience” just debuted this past weekend and he’s getting ready to pitch the next two seasons of “The Knick. If you thought that’s more than enough for one person to handle, you thought wrong. Somewhere in all of that, the director has knocked out a music video for DTCV.

The band features French singer-songwriter Lola G. and former Guided by Voices member James Greer, and the latter is key. Years and years ago, Soderbergh tried to mount a big screen, 3D musical “Cleo” which would’ve featured music by Guided By Voices‘ frontman Robert Pollard. Obviously that didn’t happen, so we’ll have to settle for this semi-abstract video in which vintage footage of rural American life comes right up against the impersonal modern world. Check it out.
